COMPUTER BASED EXAMS: FEAR OF LEAKAGE WORRIES JAMB IN ADAMAWA

Fear of gaining unauthorised access to examination questions by computer hackers may force the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to drop
the selected examination centres in Adamawa State for the computer based examinations.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Daily Trust,.the Adamawa State Coordinator of JAMB, Malam Buba Gashua, said the wireless networks used by the computerised examination centres in Adamawa State were vulnerable to hacking, hence, the board preferred centres using more secured land based
technology.

He said JAMB is migrating from paper to computer- based test starting from April, adding that the centres selected in Adamawa are the American University of
Nigeria (AUN) and the Federal College of Education (FCE).

He said: “All the centres are using wireless devices and the problem with wireless is hacking; someone
can easily hack.

The centres must improve their facilities to meet our requirements.”
Meanwhile, the JAMB Director, Corporate Support Services, Hajiya A’isha Dahiru, stated that JAMB may set up its own examination centre in Yola to cater for
its needs.
